Learn “The History of Man”  by attending a Man About Town event.

Man About Town is an annual fundraiser sponsored by Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley. Proceeds from the 2013 Man About Town event benefit the Stop Teen Violence and Healthy Start projects, an ongoing campaign by Soroptimist. More than $330,000 has been raised in the last four years specifically for this effort.

During the next several weeks the candidates seek votes, which are in the form of dollars. Each dollar equals one vote, and the man with the most dollars at the end of the campaign is crowned the winner. Candidates in the 20th annual Man About Town include Kurt Madden, Jeff Willis and Bryan Bianchi.

Madden’s first big event is Men, Models & Maddness Tuesday, April 9, at the Wolf Creek Resort Wine Room. Cost is $30 per ticket and includes a drink ticket and appetizers provided by the Peppercorn Grille.

The night features live music by Mike Cross, a men’s and women’s fashion show, opportunity drawings and an auction.

There is limited seating for the event, which is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. RSVP is required. Contact Jeanette Harris at 760-212-2408 for tickets and more information about how you can support Team Madden.

Wolf Creek Resort Wine Room is at 41321 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake.

On Friday, April 12, Feel the Burn at Chad’s Place is a fundraiser for candidate Willis. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the historic Chad’s Place pub in the Village area of Big Bear Lake. Participants can enjoy whiskey tasting, a pool tournament, line dancing and more.
