A marijuana grow house was shut down Sept. 8 and two men are in custody on charges of cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale.

Big Bear Sheriff’s Deputies were notified of suspicious circumstances in the 300 block of San Anselmo Drive. Reports of a strong smell of marijuana coming from a house led deputies to obtain a search warrant for the house. Deputies and members of the Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Eradication Team served the warrant around 9 p.m.

Jason Parker, 29, and Pedro Ramirez, 21, were arrested at the house. Authorities siezed 68 marijuana plants, along with an elaborate indoor grow system, paraphernalia associated with marijuana sales and a large sum of cash.

Parker and Ramirez were booked on suspicion of felony cultivation and possession for sale. Ramirez was also booked under Title 18 of the United States Code as an illegal alien.

Parker and Ramirez are being held in West Valley Detention Center on $50,000 bail each. Arraignment is set for Monday, Sept. 12, in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
