UPDATE 4:49 p.m. — Downbound traffic on Highway 18 to Lucerne Valley from Big Bear is open with escorts. Traffic is moving slowly. It's unknown when the upbound lane will reopen.
UPDATE 1:45 p.m. — Arctic Circle now open. The California Highway Patrol is escorting vehicles through. The rock slide debris has been removed. No injuries were reported, but motorists are advised to use caution due to increased flash flood potential.
UPDATE: 5:57 p.m. — Paul Marconi of Bear Valley Electric Service says the power could be out for up to 10 hours in some areas affected by the power outage.
At about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, a dump truck with two trailers overturned on a blind curve between Cushenberry and Cactus Flats on Highway 18. Traffic is reduced to one lane on Highway 18 between Big Bear and Lucerne Valley until the truck can be removed.
