Followers of the JAH Healing Church Kemetic Temple of the Divine crowded the small sanctuary May 2 in Big Bear City. Alanna Reeves, president of the Association of Sacramental Ministries was there to publicly announce that a $2 million claim had been filed against San Bernardino County in response to a raid on April 26 by the county Sheriff’s Department’s narcotics division.

“They damaged the church and its properties,” Reeves said. “They broke a lot and took a lot of really, really special, precious things that belong to our church. They took the church’s sacrament.”

Reeves said the association and the church share the belief that cannabis is vital for religious healing. “What happened here was wrong,” she said. “We will fight to ensure our religion is able to support our members and continue to be one of the fastest-growing religions in the world.”
