Deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station arrested two 23-year-old males Aug. 22 at Yellow Post Campsite 28 on Forest Service Road 2N10. Jerry Walker and Ariq Carrigan are accused of assaulting and robbing Christopher Huebner, 35.
According to authorities, Huebner said he befriended three subjects while camping in the forest. Walker and Carrigan, along with a third person asked Huebner to drive them into Big Bear to run errands, authorities said. On the drive back to the campsite, Huebner claims he was strangled with a weapon and repeatedly punched in the face by the men he befriended. The third person was dropped off prior to the alleged assault, authorities said.
Carrigan and Walker are also accused of stealing Huebner’s wallet before fleeing on foot. Huebner has injuries to his face and neck.
Deputies located Carrigan and Walker at Yellow Post Campsite 25, where they were taken into custody without incident. Walker and Carrigan were booked into the Big Bear Jail on felony charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Walker and Carrigan remain in custody at West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail each. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 24, in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
