Jimmy (Jim) Lee Fairman was born in Athens, Tennessee, on December 7, 1953. He passed away at home in Big Bear Lake on Friday, August 10, 2018. He suffered a prolonged illness before going to meet with the Lord. He was 64.
Jim grew up in El Monte, California, from the age of 7 and attended El Monte High School. He then served for a short time in the U.S. Navy. He moved with his family to Big Bear in 1986 where he was a house painter, handyman and did various construction jobs. He was also on the maintenance crew at Snow Summit.
Jim was very active in church for a number of years. He attended New Life Bible College in Covina, California, prior to moving to Big Bear. He was later ordained into the Southwest District of Foursquare Churches in May 1989. But music was his life-long passion. He began playing the drums in high school and played in several different bands and projects throughout the years. He also played on various church worship teams throughout Big Bear.
Jim is survived by 2 grandchildren and 3 sons: Dr. Jason Fairman and his children Jack and Ellie of Joplin, Missouri, son James Fairman of Big Bear City and son Joshua Fairman of Sugarloaf, California. He is also survived by an estranged wife, Jeriann Fairman of Big Bear City; and long-term girlfriend and domestic partner, Cynthia Cole of Big Bear Lake.
A memorial service and celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at 11 a.m. at Christian Faith Center, 385 Summit Blvd., Big Bear Lake, California.
