Fairy Festival, Aug. 6, 2016

Christine Thompson, left, and her mother, Jan Thompson participate in a craft workshop during the Fairy Festival Aug. 6 in Big Bear Lake.

BIG BEAR LAKE—Crafts, vendors, food, fairy dish gardens, storytelling and a hands-on fairy dish garden workshop were on display at the Fairy Garden Festival at the Summit Christian Fellowship Aug. 6.

Hosted by “A” Garden Club, the second Fairy Garden Festival is the main scholarship fundraiser for the club, according to president Vicky Roney.

Proceeds from the event benefit the club’s Carole Hassler Scholarship Award, given annually to a Big Bear High School student planning to pursue a course of study related to nature and the environment. The goal is to raise $1,000 this year.

Last year the club was able to give $800 to Brandon Dean Baker.
